The successful candidate plays a key role within Blount’s Global Manufacturing Technology team by establishing and monitoring compliance with standards for hardware selection, code structure, machine performance reports and integration with our manufacturing data historian system.  This role is responsible for coordinating and prioritizing support requests from multiple global manufacturing sites for integrating equipment into the Manufacturing Data Historian system, as well as managing change requests and notifications through a formal approval process.  The Manufacturing Data Administrator also manages software licenses for a variety of programs that are critical for the development and use of custom automation equipment.



  • Establish, maintain, and enforce standards and documentation related to data display and reporting for equipment connected to the system.
  • Establish and maintain documentation related to change management of the system.
  • Maintain communication related to the system, coordinate similar efforts, and facilitate best practice sharing between plants and users.
  • Execute the strategy set by cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Coordinate troubleshooting activities between plants.
  • Verification and auditing of user access, database size and health, and system scalability within licensing agreements.
  • Facilitate training and maintain training materials in a central repository.
  • Monitor the cost of existing data features and estimate the cost of new features as needed for strategic review by Operations, Engineering, and other stakeholders.
  • Coordinate/prioritize new feature development and maintain roadmap of new features.
  • Monitor software license renewals and secure funding to support engineering and manufacturing activities.
  • Establish preferred suppliers and models for critical control systems hardware; monitor manufacturers’ end of life (EOL) plans, identify suitable replacements, and develop and execute test plans to qualify the replacement hardware.
  • Engage team members across a global network of manufacturing locations to facilitate sharing of best practices and lessons learned.
  • Evaluate and document accepted deviations from standard practices.



  • Associate’s degree in network administration or similar discipline required; Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering field preferred.



  • 2-4 years’ minimum experience in the following:
    • Creation of data analysis tools, including reports and dashboards, within a SCADA or Data Historian system (OSISoft PI system preferred)
    • Documentation of procedures and policies
    • Leading small to medium sized projects in a manufacturing environment
    • Developing and delivering training programs to a variety of team members
  • Able to complete responsibilities in a timely, professional and quality-focused manner
  • Solve problems analytically; search out relevant information and gauge its importance when making decisions
  • Effective written and oral communication skills; able to express oneself clearly and in appropriate terms for the target audience
  • Creative and logical thinker

  • Broad understanding of equipment control and instrumentation systems (PLC, HMI, SCADA, networking) and manufacturing equipment performance metrics

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) and data management software (SAP preferred)



  • Available to work on site as required by job for assigned shift as required by job; eligible and available for domestic and international travel
