The successful candidate will troubleshoot, diagnose and repair all types of machinery and support equipment in the manufacturing and warehouse locations of Oregon Cutting Systems. Monitor indicators and provide preventive maintenance to prevent the breakdown of critical equipment.



  • Evaluate equipment condition
  • Propose, prototype and evaluate changes to equipment
  • Propose and test solutions to equipment problems
  • Fabricate to drawings
  • React to equipment malfunctions by diagnosing the problem, disassembling, repairing/replacing and reassembling
  • Complete scheduled maintenance
  • Utilize a computer-based system to retrieve process documentation and blueprints
  • Review customer requests for service and prioritize personal workload
  • Practice team work methodologies
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and well-organized workplace to include personal work area and assigned work area
  • Rebuild equipment to manufacturer’s specifications, utilizing manufacturers drawings, manuals and service instructions
  • Fabricate machine prototype parts per engineering and shop floor requests/replacement parts
  • Install, level, debug and commission equipment
  • Support engineering and general plant requirements of new equipment
  • Fabricate parts or equipment by welding, machining and assembling from supplied drawings, sketches or verbal instructions
  • Fabricate sheet metal and plastic parts, fixtures, chutes, and other equipment or process support items
  • Share best practices on maintaining and improving equipment
  • Assist in developing training documentation
  • Provide training for new employees, operators, apprentice, and peers
  • Provide verbal or written status reports
  • Receive verbal or written instructions on production priorities for repairs or projects
  • Complete maintenance records including machine damage, machine repair, parts used, and sold hours
  • Participate in improvement and process development activities
  • Use a computer-based system to capture labor



  • High school diploma or GED is required



  • Two years of experience in maintaining production equipment and rebuilding equipment, desired. 
  • Competent with electric and gas welding, brazing, and soldering of a variety of raw materials including but not limited to steel, stainless steel, aluminum and plastic.
  • Competent reading drawings and proficient with shop math.
  • Solid interpersonal skills will be needed for this position as interaction between operators, supervisors, engineers, and purchasing is essential for this position.
  • Welding experience using gas, wire, and stick welding is desired.
  • Some machining experience using lathes, mills, and grinders or other machinist tools is desired.
  • This position will require experience with conducting preventative maintenance, light maintenance, set-up and operation of manufacturing equipment. This person must demonstrate good analytical abilities and listening skills.

    Additional Qualifications Expected at Full Performance

  • 30 credit hours of Machine Technology courses with a 3.0 or greater GPA to be eligible for advancement to CII position within 3 years
  • Completion of all company mandatory training classes
  • Continuous learning through recommended company training



  • This opportunity will be an off-shift (Swing or Graveyard) position.  The successful candidate will complete a 6 month initial training/onboarding period then move to the shift selected at the time of joining the company.
    • Swing shift: 4:00 p.m. to midnight
    • Graveyard shift: Midnight to 7:30 a.m.
    • Or when assigned to a special shift determined by department needs
